Mirja Mauno was founded by English/Finnish designer Hanna-liisa Mason.
The name Mirja Mauno is taken from Hanna's beloved Finnish grandparents who have always been a major inspiration for Hanna. Their childlike curiosity, humour and the ability to create magical worlds through imagination is something Hanna tries to capture in her work.
Recently Hanna’s main focus has turned to paper as a material, the need to simplify her design process and experiment with more primitive ways of working has inspired her most recent ´Paper Cuts’ collection.
A passion for Folk art, the natural world & Finnish and Italian flea markets are imperative to Hanna’s design process resulting in her bold and fresh, yet nostalgic designs.
Hanna is part of a print & ceramic design duo ‘Cit ma Bon Bottega’ (small but valuable in Italian Piedmontese) that she founded with her partner Artist Joe Wray in Autumn 2024.
Cit ma bon bottega produces hand made unique ceramic jewellery and print inspired by the duo’s shared love of folklore and the esoteric. Explore more here
